DIGITALIZATION IN MEDIUM AND SMALL MUSEUMS

Large Cultural Institutions are spearheading the digitalization processes in all areas of their activity. They have the necessary technical, economic, and human resources to apply technology in their internal processes, mediation and in their exhibition projects. In this first technical conference we will analyze, through real experiences, how small and medium-sized cultural institutions can overcome obstacles to address their digital transformation.

DESIGN, A KEY TOOL IN CULTURAL MEDIATION

During this second day, we will focus on a specific cultural discipline: DESIGN and its capacity to mediate in culture. Design is a key part in the user’s experience of culture. From space configuration, digital communication, and museum stores to new digital support systems, metaverse, videogames, etc., design has the ability to transform and attract public.

TOPIC 5. Designing Culture

Design applied to culture has found an increasingly expanding space for professionals in this discipline. From the design of museums to Museums of Design, graphic design is a powerful tool for the creation, management, promotion, and sales in the cultural sector, in general, and in the museum field, in particular.

Closing Act: Picasso Celebration 1973-2023

April the 8th, 2023 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the death of the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso, commemoration that marks the commemoration of his work and his artistic heritage in France, Spain, and other countries. This celebration concentrates on around fifty exhibitions and events that are held in renowned cultural institutions in Europe and North America that, together, address a historiographical analysis of his work. We close this program with a discussion panel about the most international figure from Malaga and his influence on the processes of cultural transformation of our century.
