José Antonio Mesa Toré (Málaga, 1963) holds a degree in Hispanic Philology from the University of Málaga, where he taught for seven years, and is a career civil servant with the post of Senior Cultural Technician at the Diputación de Málaga. Since 2011 he has been director of the Centro Cultural Generación del 27. He was a member of the editorial team of the magazine Litoral for almost three decades. He was director of the magazine Puente de Plata and is the director of El Maquinista de la Generación. He has also directed numerous poetry collections, has published works on Picasso, Manuel Altolaguirre, Luis Cernuda, José María Hinojosa, Darío and Manuel Carmona and the magazine Litoral, and has curated several literary exhibitions. He is the author of the books of poems El amigo imaginario (1991, King Juan Carlos I International Poetry Prize), Tierra calma and La alegre militancia (anthologies of his work, 1995 and 1996), La primavera nórdica (1998, Ministry of Culture grant for creative work) and Exceso de buen tiempo (2017, City of Melilla International Poetry Prize).
